You have w-what? Jesus Tabi are you okay? God your brave… I-is it bad?

I’d like to say I am, but I’m not completely sure. It’s not as bad as it could be. I mean, I could be laying in a hospital bed hooked up to machines because I can’t breathe for myself, you know? I’m getting treatment.

Im so sorry,I guess your right. It always better to look on the bright side eh? Want me to change the subject?

It doesn’t really matter. If you want to, you can. I’m hoping you won’t treat me any different because you know this though. [laughs]

I guess I was really tired. Going to the hospital today.

Hospital? You got a cold or something? If it’s contagious im coming with you. My immune systems virtually non existent. Haha Seriously though whats up?

Haha it’s not—at least from what I know. You weren’t there when I made the announcement either? [rubs the back of her neck] I have um… I have lung cancer.

Joey was excited to go swimming at the pool at night for the first time. It had always seemed like a fun thing to do and Joey always had a love for trying new things and making a good time out of the experience. He als wanted to get to know Tabi better. She seemed like such a fun and carefree girl that at the same time knew how t be a good friend and that was exactly what Joey looked for in his friends and he could tell already that he and Tabi would become the best of friends by the end of the summer. Joey put on a new bathing suit he had recently bought at the pier a few days ago and then slipped into a pair of sweatshirt and grabbed a towel and his sun glassed. Sure, it was completely black outside and it was obviously night, but he wanted to have the complete look. As he got ready to exit his dorm, he put his phone in his pocket as well as his room key. Then he walked down to the outdoor pool and waited for Tabi to arrive.

Tabitha just needed something to distract her from the day’s events. She had completely confessed to everyone that she had lung cancer, and believe it or not, she felt lighter. The weight was lifted off her shoulders and she didn’t feel so bad about hiding things anymore. Still, the girl wanted to do something to take her mind off of her illness, and what better way than to spend time with one of her favorite people on the island? Joey had been one of the first—possibly the first person she had spoken to on the island, and she absolutely adored him. He was everything she looked for in a friend, much like how it was with Mel. He seemed to be down lately, and the blonde was determined to help him feel better. She looked around room 22, finding Josh already asleep, and changed into a black bikini. Tabi grabbed a towel, slung it over her arm and walked out of the room after grabbing her cellphone (in case Josh needed her) and her room key. She wondered which of the pools she was to go to, and took a wild guess—heading towards the outdoor pool. It’d be a much more prettier choice; gazing up at the stars and all that. She got down to the entrance and saw Joey waiting for her already. “Hey!” she greeted him, smiling at him nervously. She still wasn’t sure how to react around people now that they knew about the cancer.
